Volunteer Center Terms Of Agreement For Partner Organizations

THE VOLUNTEER CENTER works with PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS to help connect volunteer interests with volunteer opportunities.

THE VOLUNTEER CENTER does NOT recruit or refer volunteers to:

  • Individuals
  • Political candidates or campaigns
  • Activities proselytizing/inducing others to convert or join a faith, party, or institution
  • Replace paid workers/employees

THE VOLUNTEER CENTER does not:

  • Consider any volunteer to be an employee, agent, or contractor of the Volunteer Center
  • Provide liability or any other insurance coverage to volunteers

PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS will:

  • Provide volunteers referred by the Volunteer Center the same insurance coverage that is provided to volunteers recruited directly by the Partner Organization. Have a Non-Discrimination Policy assuring no person will be discriminated against because of race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, creed, or disability.
  • Interview and screen prospective volunteers for appropriate assignment, including background checks, fingerprinting, or other screening as needed. It is the responsibility of the Partner Organization to provide all training required by statute or by the Partner Organization for the volunteer to engage in the assigned activity at the assigned location.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment in which volunteers will be assigned including an accessible workplace and reasonable accommodations for volunteers with special needs.

THE PARTNER ORGANIZATION will not hold the VOLUNTEER CENTER or the OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL accountable or liable for any unacceptable behavior or performance of a volunteer.

THE PARTNER ORGANIZATION will release, hold harmless, defend, and indemnify the VOLUNTEER CENTER or OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL, its employees and representatives from all claims, demands, causes of action known or unknown, suits, or judgments of any kind including attorneys’ fees, regardless whether such action arises directly or indirectly from this partnership with the Volunteer Center.

The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County uses reasonable commercial efforts to avoid disclosure of information which is confidential, privileged or nonpublic other than in accordance with this privacy policy.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County gathers personally identifiable data when voluntarily submitted by a user, which may include: name, addresses, zip codes, e-mail addresses, donor choice information, etc. For example, personally identifiable information may be collected in order to record a stated desire to donate online to The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County via a direct gift or through a company sponsored campaign.
