Volunteer Center Terms Of Agreement For Partner Organizations
THE VOLUNTEER CENTER works with PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS to help connect volunteer interests with volunteer opportunities.
THE VOLUNTEER CENTER does NOT recruit or refer volunteers to:
- Political candidates or campaigns
- Activities proselytizing/inducing others to convert or join a faith, party, or institution
- Replace paid workers/employees
THE VOLUNTEER CENTER does not:
- Consider any volunteer to be an employee, agent, or contractor of the Volunteer Center
- Provide liability or any other insurance coverage to volunteers
PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS will:
- Provide volunteers referred by the Volunteer Center the same insurance coverage that is provided to volunteers recruited directly by the Partner Organization. Have a Non-Discrimination Policy assuring no person will be discriminated against because of race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, creed, or disability.
- Interview and screen prospective volunteers for appropriate assignment, including background checks, fingerprinting, or other screening as needed. It is the responsibility of the Partner Organization to provide all training required by statute or by the Partner Organization for the volunteer to engage in the assigned activity at the assigned location.
- Provide a safe and secure environment in which volunteers will be assigned including an accessible workplace and reasonable accommodations for volunteers with special needs.
- Report volunteer hours to the VOLUNTEER CENTER monthly.
THE PARTNER ORGANIZATION will not hold the VOLUNTEER CENTER or the OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL accountable or liable for any unacceptable behavior or performance of a volunteer.
THE PARTNER ORGANIZATION will release, hold harmless, defend, and indemnify the VOLUNTEER CENTER or OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL, its employees and representatives from all claims, demands, causes of action known or unknown, suits, or judgments of any kind including attorneys’ fees, regardless whether such action arises directly or indirectly from this partnership with the Volunteer Center.
Confidentiality is a hallmark of professionalism.
Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County gathers personally identifiable data when voluntarily submitted by a user, which may include: name, addresses, zip codes, e-mail addresses, donor choice information, etc. For example, personally identifiable information may be collected in order to record a stated desire to donate online to The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County via a direct gift or through a company sponsored campaign. This information is used solely by The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County or other parties to the transaction for the purpose of executing the transaction, to improve your experience with us, and for the internal business purposes of The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County.
We are the sole owners of the information collected. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.
We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization other than affiliates, contractors, advisors, service providers or in our reasonable discretion to investigate or prevent fraud, illegal activity or misuse of our web site.
Periodically The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County will send electronic communications in newsletter format or another format to our constituents, which include donors, volunteers and other business contacts. Typically these communications include information regarding community investment reporting, funded program information and results, news and events, as well as other pertinent information we feel should be reported to our constituents. Recipients retain the option to opt-out of these communications at any point in time.

This information is used to contact you about our programs and other areas on our site in which you have expressed interest.
